More favorite albums

I've been sleeping poorly because I forgot two important items from my post about my favorite albums.   Here they are.

Black Candy — Beat Happening

I first heard a song off this record when I was in high school, probably on KBOO in Portland, Oregon, probably on the show "What Does Your Brother Know?"  I don't remember which song it was, but I remember thinking that it sounded like I'd been hearing it all my life, which in a way is true of most Beat Happening songs. 

Rockin' And Romance — Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers

A friend turned me on to Rockin' and Romance in college.  I was mystified and enthralled then and I still am today.  What kind of person writes songs about how much they like chewing gum wrappers and Wrangler jeans?  Some of the songs on this record are so good that it makes you wonder what went wrong on Jonathan Richman's other records.
