Lewis Hine (1874-1940) was a New York City teacher and photographer. He took photographs documenting child labor for the National Child Labor Committee. During the Depression, he worked for the Red Cross, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and served as chief photographer for the Works Progress Administration's (WPA) National Research Project.
