French Knot Fandango

How do you feel about French Knots?  I think they look cool but they can be tedious to do.  I had never considered doing a piece using only French knots.  Too time consuming, too many tangled threads. Perhaps I need a refresher how-to or something. My mother and grandmom used French knots pretty much only for flower centers.  This piece has single handedly caused me to re-evaluate my relationship with the French knot.
