Emboidery artist Michael Aaron McAllister

Michael Aaron McAllister is a professional quilter and embroiderer.  His work was recently featured in the Over and Under show in Austin, curated by Jenny Hart. 

I like the combination of quilting, beading and embroidery.  The multiple techniques give the pieces rich textures and depth.  And, the subjects are cool-  from Lucille Ball to Ida Amin, from Shakespeare to the Jolly Green Giant.  Bravo!

I love Henry the XIII with his six wives around him.  Their fates rather than their names are sewn under their images. Fair enough, as we all just want to know which ones had their heads lopped off.
