You get by with a little help from your friends...

We have a very special cat who lives in an e-collar/Elizabethan ruff/cone thingee.Frank Black
We don't know what happened to young Frank. But he is astronomically weird. Over the years, we have worked out ways to handle his eccentricities.  So, I appreciate stories about animals that need a little extra TLC.   And the photos are cute.

Star Wars craft overload

OK, so you are all going to think I am a colossal Star Wars nerd. But, truth be told, the Star Wars craft/art community has done some good work. I found photos of work from the  Bear and Bird Gallery's "Stitch Wars" exhibition in Lauderhill, Florida.

I have to say I am quite fond of young Jabba.

Craft Solidarity!

I saw this piece called "she embroiders II" by mary's grandmother mentioned on Feeling Stitchy. It immediately made me think of my mom Jan.  She is crazy about all things doll - up to and most likely  including crafty uses for lost bisque doll arms.  She sews up a storm.  And she taught me how to embroider when I was in second grade.  This piece seemed like something we could agree on.

Here's to Jan and her crafty spirit. Craft solidarity! Thanks, Mom!

A Fish Story

Maybe you weren't regular viewers of Barney Miller or Fish. I was not. But I appreciated the strangely undead look of Abe Vigoda.

Even if you never watched him on TV, you have to acknowledge the awesomeness of this embroidery portrait of Abe Vigoda.

Enjoy!

When did treehugger.com become so hideous?

Good god.  Look at this.  trehugger.com has become a jumble of crap.  It hurts my brain to try to sort out what it is I'm supposed to be looking at.  Was it always this way?  Seems like I remember it being a good-looking site.

Wire withdrawal

I heard glowing reports about The Wire during Season 1.  I was told I had to watch it. But we didn't have cable and the truth is that I really only embrace things in a "that was so last year" kind of time frame.  I guess I am a slow adapter. Or really stubborn.

But, we did eventually get around to watching all of The Wire.  And, it was addictive.  And, I miss it.

If you miss it too, check out these cool Wire portraits.
